Ankahi (1982) was Haseena Moin's first major triumph on PTV and remains one of the finest romantic dramas in Pakistani television history. The story centres on Sana, a young woman of considerable spirit and independence, and her complex relationship with a man who initially fails to recognise what is standing before him. Shehnaz Sheikh's portrayal of Sana is among the most celebrated performances in Pakistani drama — a character whose intelligence and self-possession were entirely new to the medium at the time. Javed Sheikh brought conviction and charm to the male lead, and the chemistry between the two actors gave the drama an emotional life that sustained across its full run. Ankahi marked the beginning of a creative partnership between Haseena Moin and director Shahzad Khalil that would go on to define PTV's golden decade.
