Angan Terha

About This Drama
Angan Terha (1973–1980) was Anwar Maqsood's sustained meditation on the absurdities of Pakistani domestic and social life, delivered through the comic architecture of an extended family sharing a single courtyard. The drama's genius lay in its ability to sustain comedy across an unusually long run without exhausting the logic of its characters or resorting to the easy repetition of its best situations. Bushra Ansari was among the ensemble's standout performers, bringing to the series the same disciplined comic intelligence that would make her a national icon. The show understood that the finest comedy is almost always about something real — and Angan Terha was quietly but persistently serious about the contradictions and pretensions it so warmly lampooned. It remains one of the most affectionately remembered programmes in the history of PTV.
