Biography

Bushra Ansari is a national institution. For over five decades she has been the most versatile and beloved entertainer in Pakistan — actress, comedian, singer, playwright, and impressionist, often all at once. Her work on Fifty Fifty and Angan Terha with Anwar Maqsood in the late 1970s and 1980s brought a quality of comic timing and characterisation that had never been seen on Pakistani television before. Her ability to inhabit dozens of distinct characters within a single episode became the signature of an era. She has continued working with undiminished energy and wit well into the 21st century, remaining as relevant and warmly received today as she was at the height of PTV's golden age.
