Rahat Kazmi was among the most accomplished character actors that Pakistani television has ever produced. His portrayal of the idealistic Dr. Ahmer in Haseena Moin's Dhoop Kinare (1987) is considered one of the finest performances in the history of PTV — a masterclass in restraint, integrity, and the quiet gravity of a man who means everything he says. He brought the same commanding authority to his role as Major Saab in Shoaib Mansoor's Alpha Bravo Charlie (1998), a performance that resonated deeply with Pakistani audiences for its portrayal of military honour and personal sacrifice. Kazmi's work helped define the standard of male performance on PTV during the medium's most creative and celebrated period.
