Qavi Khan

Biography

Qavi Khan was one of the great character actors of Pakistani cinema and television, with a career spanning more than five decades and encompassing virtually every genre that the medium offered. His ability to shift between comedy and drama with complete conviction made him invaluable to directors across multiple generations of Pakistani storytelling. He appeared in countless PTV classics across the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, bringing the same professionalism and presence whether in a lead role or a brief supporting turn. A recipient of the Pride of Performance award, Qavi Khan's contribution to Pakistani entertainment was recognised by the state as well as by generations of audiences who grew up watching him. He passed away in 2021, leaving behind a body of work that remains a touchstone of the craft.
