Biography

Marina Khan is one of the most enduring icons of Pakistani television, best known for her luminous performances in Haseena Moin's landmark dramas of the 1980s. Her portrayal of Zara in Tanhaiyan (1986) and the spirited lead role in Dhoop Kinare (1987) defined a generation's imagination of what a Pakistani heroine could be — intelligent, warm, and deeply human. Trained in the performing arts, Marina brought a naturalism to PTV's golden era that was rare and instantly recognisable. After her celebrated work with director Shahzad Khalil, she pursued further studies abroad and returned to continue working as an actor, director, and acting coach. Her legacy in Tanhaiyan alone would be sufficient to secure her place in the history of Pakistani drama; the full breadth of her career makes her irreplaceable.
