Biography
Haseena Moin was the most significant dramatist in the history of Pakistani television. Over a career spanning four decades, she authored a body of work — Tanhaiyan, Dhoop Kinare, Ankahi, Kiran Kahani, Des Pardes, Un Kahi — that not only defined PTV's golden era but established the very grammar of what a Pakistani drama could aspire to be. Her writing was distinguished by its exceptional female characters: women of intelligence, agency, and emotional complexity who existed fully on their own terms, at a time when such portraits were anything but commonplace. Working closely with director Shahzad Khalil and a generation of extraordinary actors, she helped create a cultural legacy that continues to be rediscovered and celebrated. Haseena Moin passed away in 2021, leaving behind an archive of work that represents the summit of Pakistani dramatic writing.
